Economy to Bottom Out in 2nd Quarter
2/4분기부터 경기 회복될 전망
The economy is likely to bottom out from the second quarter period.
2/4분기부터 국가 경제가 회복될 것으로 보인다.
*Reversing an earlier projection that the economy will begin to
recover from the latter half, the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) yesterday said the economy would hit its lowest point at the end of March.

재정 경제부는 어제 하반기부터 경기가 회복되기 시작할 거라는 당초
예상을 뒤엎고 3월말 무렵 우리 경제가 최저치에 도달하게 될 것으로
보인다고 언급했다.
The projection means that the economy will enter a *recovery stage from April.
* recovery : a return to a good condition : 회복
이 예측은 경기가 올 4월부터 회복 단계에 들어가게 됨을 의미한다.
However, the economy was *presumed to have posted a negative
growth in the fourth quarter last year. In the first quarter this year, *GDP is expected to post a zero growth, according to *analysts.

우리 경제는 지난 해 4/4분기에 마이너스 성장을 기록할 것으로

International investment bankers *predict the central bank will have no choice but to cut its base interest rate additionally sometime during the first half of this year.

국제 투자가들은 올 상반기 동안 한국은행이 기본 금리를 추가로 낮출 수밖에 없을 것으로 전망했다.
However, MOFE officials said the brighter-than-expected economic
growth is forecast because of signs of improvement in the financial market and various economic indicators.

그러나 재경부 관계자들은 금융 시장의 회복 조짐과 여러 경제 지수들에 따르면 보다 밝은 경제 성장이 기대된다고 언급했다.
``Given the situation surrounding the financial market and the
economic indexes in the past few months, there is a high *likelihood that the economy will enter a full-fledged recovery stage, beginning from the second quarter,'' said a MOFE official.

"지난 몇 달간의 금융 시장 및 경제 지수들에 의한 상황을 고려해 볼 때 우리 경제가 2/4분기부터 완전한 회복 단계로 들어설 가능성이 매우 높다"고 한 재경부 관계자는 언급했다.
