Law-enforcement authorities have declared a war against illegal
collective actions such as *violent strikes and sit-in protests. However, the ``get- tough'' policy is drawing backlash from unionists and the public.

``We will no longer *tolerate any illegal violent actions by those going too far in pursuing egotism without respecting the interest of the public,'' a senior prosecutor said.

failing to get tough with bank unionists and utility workers of the state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. (*KEPCO) who strongly protested planned layoffs and restructuring measures last year.
